Venezuelan website says $10,000 reward for information leading to arrest of drug cartel leader

ANAHEIM, Calif.

— Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has offered a $10-million reward for anyone with information leading authorities to the arrest of the country’s top drug trafficker.

Maduro on Wednesday announced a reward of $1 million for information about the alleged plot by Carlos “Chico” Leal, a fugitive former police chief.

The announcement came two days after the arrest by U.S. authorities of Leal on charges of drug trafficking and money laundering.

The White House has not commented on the claim, but a White House spokesman said on Wednesday that the administration has been working with Venezuela and other countries to confront the growing violence and violence against women in the country.
